The Christmas song was written in 1951 by Meredith Willson, who also wrote The Music Man.
Originally the title was originally titled “It’s Beginning to Look Like Christmas”.
The popular belief is the song was written while Willson was staying at the Yarmouth’s Grand Hotel in Yarmouth, Nova Scotia. This is due to the mention of the old hotel and store operating at that time.
The song has been recorded by numerous artists including Perry Como, the Fontaine Sisters, Michael Buble and Johnny Mathis.
